I appreciate everyone who made reservations in my inaugural year as owner of North Bend Canoe Rental.  Sandy left us a pretty nice setup!  Many of you were unable to paddle due to river conditions and all the flooding of 2024.  It is my hope that you and your group will try again and make another ADVENTURE reservation for 2025.  

ThIs offseason, I'm working on improving my fleet & equipment and expanding NBCR Shuttle Service for all paddlers along the lower Black River, from the City of Black River Falls down river to Champions/Van Loon Landing/Hwy 53.

NBCR is now offering a 'for hire' Shuttle Service for up to 10 GUESTS w/DRIVER serving the Coulee Region.

The NBCR SHUTTLE SERVICE is based out of Sparta, WI.

The Shuttle is a 2016 Ford Transit 350 XLT passenger van-very nice ride!

The driver stays with the van at all times during rental.

Available to rent for any 'single day' special event

Providing safe travel to & from your destination

Van is reserved by the hour (TWO HOUR minimum)

Adult beverages ARE ALLOWED in the Shuttle

The VAN w/DRIVER rent for $100 for the FIRST HOUR, then $60 per hour for remaining time contracted.

CASH IS PREFERRED and receipts are provided upon request.

Your group price will be determined when reservation made.

Agreed upon price to be paid at time of boarding the Shuttle.

Deposits are not required to reserve the Shuttle Service.

 Walk-up rentals are not guaranteed & subject to availability of equipment and shuttle schedule.

All paddlers must sign a waiver of liability form prior to the  departure of your trip.

Paddle the scenic lower Black River from various public launch sites south of the Black River Falls dam to our exit point in North Bend, WI by canoe or kayak.  Our DAY TRIP, the most popular paddle adventure, launches from the Melrose Public Landing.  This (+/-) 5 hour paddle meanders through 10 miles of forests, fields, and a beautiful Wisconsin river ecosytem.  An awesome paddle for any and all levels of experience!  This stretch of the Black River is known for its wilderness, lazy waters, numerous white sand beaches, wild bird habitat, and great fishing opportunities for anglers. The Black River is home to smallmouth bass, walleye, muskie, catfish & many more species!

For CAMPING enthusiasts, launching from points north of the Melrose Landing provides paddlers with many opportunities for  3day/2nite or 2day/1nite adventures in FREE first come/first serve open camping on the many sandbars along the river.  So, whatever adventure you want to enjoy on the river, bring your gear & your friends and let North Bend Canoe Rental LLC (NBCR) help you paddle there!

NBCR LLC provides canoes, kayaks, paddles, cushions and life vests, as well as shuttle service in our passenger  vans, included in our rental package for paddlers and their gear as part of our DAY TRIP package.  We will shuttle paddlers to the launch site at the Melrose Public Boat Landing , departing from our gathering & parking point in North Bend(NB).  Our crew will assist with the loading and launching of your group onto the river.  Your vehicles will be at the exit point in North Bend.

Overnite campers will have the same rental package with overnite pricing applied.  An additional shuttle service fee will be added and will be based on your choice of launch site beyond the Melrose Public Landing site.  See details in our Rates section below.  

PLEASE PARK ON NORTH BEND DRIVE ALONG THE RIVER IN NORTH BEND. 

We ask that you not park in front of the North Bend businesses, as they serve many different customers throughout the day and parking is limited in the business district.

NBCR offers shuttle and rental service daily with a RESERVATION!  Daily shuttles will generally depart from North Bend on the hour.  Our first shuttle can depart at 8am and our last shuttle of the day will depart at 1pm for the DAY TRIP adventure. We will not launch the DAY TRIP paddle after 1 pm so that all paddlers reach the 'self-help' exit point in North Bend before sunset.  The exit point is unlit.

Overnite campers can make launch time arrangements at the time you make your reservation.   Overnite  campers may reserve shuttle service through 5pm, departing from North Bend, on the first night of their adventure.

Whichever launch site you choose to begin your adventure, ALL groups with rented equipment from NBCR  will exit the river in North Bend.  

Canoes/kayaks are to be pulled on to the mowed grass behind the EXIT sign in North Bend after your adventure.  Please leave paddles, vests and cushions in the canoe once the canoe is out of the water and safely stored on shore.

For paddlers with their own equipment, NBCR offers our shuttle service to all paddlers of the lower Black River from Champions Campground/Van Loon Landing at HWY 53 to the City of Black River Falls running  along the Hwy 54 corridor.  Fees are based per individual , per vessel, and per launch site of your choice.  Reservations are required to use the shuttle service.  Some restrictions will apply.

PLEASE NOTE:  All paddling reservations are subject to the following, and NBCR LLC reserves the right to cancel any reservations due to the conditions of 1) the weather, and/or  2) the river.  We will always place SAFETY FIRST to our patrons and our crew.

(NBCR does NOT rent equipment heading south from North Bend)

FIREWOOD:

$5/bundle for overnite campers only.  

Firewood not kept on-site.

Please reserve firewood when making your overnite reservations.
